Chapter 1: The Game

In the first chapter of The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn, The Game, is supposed to be played by only just giving and sharing of whatever things that a man can give no matter if it is good or bad as long as it gives a different kind of feeling and thought to another person, the very thing that he gave shall he receive or its equivalent.

"Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." (Prov. 4:23)

This means that whatever man focuses himself or think about a thing over and over again, will later externalize to his affairs and surroundings. The chapter gave a lot of examples of why such things happen when they know in themselves that the things that are happening to them are the thoughts that are constantly on their mind before it appears to their outside world.

Florence Scovel Shinn illustrated that there are three departments of the mind: a) subconscious, b) conscious, and c) superconscious. When you talk about the subconscious mind, it only tells you about the untapped potential of your mind to create something more impossible to do than your reasoning mind can do (conscious mind.) It says, through imaging and self-portraying a subject or situation for yourself will later on externalize to your actual life.

The mortal mind as she called it, the conscious mind, sees the life how it appears to be. It attract things and thoughts that can manipulate the human's subconscious mind by repeating the said things and thoughts that made it attached to his whole system and later on to its outer world.

The superconscious mind is the God Mind within each man, and it is the realm of perfect ideas. The 'perfect pattern' or 'divine design' of every human being, the things and situation he supposed to have by his own divine design and by his divine right. It is the 'infinite intelligence' within a man to which he will find his own destiny and purpose on this life.

"There is a place that you are to fill and no one else can fill, something you are to do, which no one else can do."

The Divine Design, or the Perfect Pattern as others say as kismet, fate, and destiny. You can't play the game based on luck because you are showing that you don't have enough faith to risk or to want something more impossible, the thing that you really want through the amount of faith you have. The human spirit will not invest itself in compromise.

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

The kingdom of God is within man himself, it's his superconscious mind. All these things shall be added unto you by your Divine Right, seek first your Divine Selection not because you are attracted to it through your reasoning mind but through your good feeling to the subject of consciousness.

"Infinite Spirit open the way for great abundance. She is an irresistible magnet for all that belongs to her by divine right."

Florence Scovel Shinn spoke this words to a woman who received thousands of dollars in a miraculous way. She said to the woman to never violate a hunch, if she has any, because that was Divine Selection or the right destination from her own mind.

"Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you." (Mat. 7:7)

Infinite Intelligence, God, is ever ready to carry out man's smallest or greatest demands. But the rule has only one way to receive the things you demanded for and that is to give. You cannot receive anything unless you know in yourself that you give something worthy to be received by anyone else.

"Why are ye fearful, oh ye of little faith?" (Mat 8:26)

It tells us that how do we come up of having a lot of fear when we only have little faith in God's Eyes. Think of us human being in bird's eye view on how small we are, yet we have this thing 'fear' manipulate every single action we tried to create base on faith. We always want to be safe, in terms of matter and not in conscious side, and being safe means that you are not playing this game of life being smart.

"Why worry, it will probably never happen."

The words say it all, that whatever happens, happens. It is not about expecting it and prepare for it, because the very thing you prepare for is what you only get. If you prepare for the thing you worry about, it should happen because you want it to happen based on your expectancy. So might as well don't expect any bad at all.

"Death and Life are in the power of the tongue."

The ending statement for the first chapter of The Game of Life and How to Play It, that your spoken word will illustrate on how you will be judged at the end of the day. Everyday is a day of judgment and that lies to the power of your tongue, the words that you say for that day and it is very important to demolish every untrue records you've recorded with your tongue before you sleep.
